New Astro Turf Cages Open in Oranmore.

Two new floodlit 35m x 27m Astro Turf cages are now open in Oranmore. The two new cages have been added to the existing 90m x 50m Astro Turf in the village. A second sand based playing pitch has also been laid for the 2010/11 season.

The new cages are equipped with 3^rd generation FIFA Certified 1 star synthetic grass which is as close as possible to playing on natural grass. The artificial grass surface allows for players to play in studded playing boots (non steel studs). It also means the transition from training on the new Astro surfaces onto grass playing pitches is seamless. It brings to an end the sore ankles, knees and hips that many players experienced over time when playing on 1^st and 2^nd generation Astro surfaces.
